Porsche St. Louis - Social Media Case Study
What is the goal of this project?
Porsche St. Louis is a car dealership located in Maplewood, MO. Their primary goals were to sell more cars, raise awareness as to what they have available, and elevate media quality.
What offered services are relevant to this project?
The services you will see in this case study are photography, videography, editing, and social media strategy/management.
Before Project Start
Initial discussions revealed opportunities for improvement in a wide variety of areas. Being a dealership, the primary goal is to sell more vehicles. There was also high interest in improving overall quality of media assets, improving social media presence, and overall trying new things. Above is a showcase of photo quality prior to project start.
Opportunity #1
Experiment with video content on social media. Begin reaching a new audience through dynamic Reels content and feed into the algorithm.
Opportunity #3
Convert Instagram account into a strong digital billboard showcasing the Porsche brand while showcasing current inventory at the store.
Opportunity #2
Elevate overall inventory photo quality. Previous photos showcased dark interiors, blurry/out of focus shots, etc. By paying attention to the details, a cleaner online presence can be achieved.
Opportunity #4
Create a digital environment that builds trust between the prospective consumer and the business itself.
What We Did
Photography and Videography asset quality was improved exponentially. Prior to my involvement, there were few videos posted and only a handful of Reels. Audio/video quality was average, but I made it a goal to elevate the standards to what a Porsche consumer would expect from the brand, and what the brand would expect from someone creating for them. Understanding the consumer was crucial here - a 40+ year old individual making over $100,000 annually. At the same time, it’s important to gain and maintain attention from a younger demographic and draw in new customers.
Opportunity Solution - Social Media Video Elevation and Experimentation
Reels are a massive opportunity for any brand or business looking to grow on social media, so a big part of social strategy was to hit this content format hard with high quality visuals that promoted inventory that was available for sale.
Each reel averages at least 3,000 views per video. They also net an audience growth each time since they are being presented to new users that are interested in the brand.
By converting the Instagram account into a quality digital content consumption outlet for Porsche and car enthusiasts, it helps let the world know that Porsche St. Louis exists and is a great source of information (closer looks, reviews, etc) regarding the Porsche brand.
It was also a goal to showcase inventory in a new, dynamic way. This was accomplished through video spec ads.
Opportunity Solution - Elevate Inventory Photography Quality
Since a major goal of any dealership is to sell cars, creating the highest quality photos showcasing a vehicle for a website is a huge deal. I tweaked minor issues and paid close attention to detail to ensure that the listings that Porsche St. Louis puts out stand out amongst the crowd. I shot details of each car that made it unique, whether that was custom seat designs, special stitching, etc. I wanted prospective customers to be able to Google a car for sale and know just by looking at the photos that it came from this location.
Opportunity Solution - Build Trust Through Social Platforms
The Instagram page was converted into a useful tool in multiple ways listed above, but it is also designed to build trust and have Porsche St. Louis be a source of information. By utilizing the Guides feature, we can organize cars by model for fans or prospective customers looking at a specific model to purchase and curate them using our posts of currently available cars.
