What was the goal of this collaboration?

Percy Jackson’s adventure brings him to Saint Louis, specifically the Gateway Arch. In-person activations were taking place at major locations throughout the country, including St. Louis, MO. The goal was to showcase the events and raise awareness.

 

The Approach

Market research for my video was done by looking through the press/media kits for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, as well as paying close attention to the marketing style of the social media channels. Engaging in social listening (reading comments, etc) took place, as well.

Key findings were that Nielsen reported the audience of the show tended to be younger. The show is also based on books that came out in the 2000s, so older audiences are out there.

The Strategy

Due to the younger demographic of the show’s viewers and the platforms that the content would live, I storyboarded for an editing style that would be faster-paced. Editing styles like this are why creators like MrBeast are wildly popular and have high-retention on their content.

After social listening, I discovered that the author originally did not know about the Gateway Arch’s actual location, so I leaned into that concept.
